Welcome to the Whistle Stop Trains newsletter. This newsletter will contain new product information and sale information. This newsletter will also include local activities involving model railroads, prototype information, and occasionally some fun stuff. In the future keep an eye out for a short article on items each week as this will start in coming weeks.

Local Activities/Events
Saturday, May 13th, 2006 – Railroad Slide Show & Dinner – This show will be located at the Buster’s Texas Style BBQ in Tigard. This event runs from 5:00PM til 10:00PM. The dinner will be from 5:00 to 6:00 and the slide will be from 6:00 to 10:00. Bring your best 40 slides. This event is open to the public but a reminder to parents of younger children that there will be no talking during the presentation. Saturday, May 20th, 2006 – 8th Annual Meet-‘N’-May – The show will be located at 6300 SW Wilson Ave. Beaverton, OR at the Fir Grove Elementary School. Admission is $3.00 for adults, $2.00 for children (Ages 6-12) and free for children under 6. There will be two full rooms of vendor tables. The activities are Intermediate and Advance Clinics (Subject to change) Raffles, Door Prizes and the Swap Meet. The topics covered in the clinics are Foreground Trees by John McCarthy, Removable Dioramas by Mark Lawler, Demystifying Digital Details by Bill Chown, and Weathering by Wash by Don Tousley. Vendor tables will cost $15.00 for non-commercial tables and $20 for commercial tables. Saturday, May 20, 2006 – 2nd Annual Rails by the Bay - Pacific Northwest Railroad Prototype Modelers Meet – Located in Bellingham, Washington at The Hampton Inn Bellington, Airport Location, Fox Hall. Hours are 9 AM to 6 PM. This RPM event is open to all modelers and will feature railroads of the Pacific Northwest, but models of all prototypes are welcome. You’ve heard about it before, now come see what RPM and Free-Mo are about. This meet includes Model displays and dioramas, clinics, Free-Mo modular layout display area, and Social Discussion area.

Saturday, June 10th, 2006 – Cruisin’ Sherwood – This show is a classic and custom car show. The SP Daylight #4449 will be there. There is free admission for the public/spectators and the show is located in the Historic Old Town in Sherwood. Gates open at 5:00AM. Saturday & Sunday, June 10th-11th, 2006 – 2006 Portland Rose Festival Model Railroad Show – This show is put on by the Columbia Gorge Model Railroad Club. It starts at 11:00am and runs until 6:00pm. The show will be located at 2505 North Vancouver Ave. in Portland, OR. This show is a Rose Festival sanctioned event.
Saturday & Sunday, June 10th-11th, 2006 – 50th Anniversary Farewell to Steam Excursion Celebration – The SP&S #700 will be at Oaks Park. June 24th, 2006 – July 2nd, 2006 – Day Out with Thomas 2006 – This will take place in Hood River, OR at the Mt. Hood Railroad. A Thomas & Friends Information Station will be there as well. Wednesday thru Saturday, August 2nd-5th, 2006 – Willamette Valley Express – Registration begins at 8:00am on Wednesday, August 2nd. First event will be a meeting at the Alpenrose Dairy at 6:00pm on August 2nd. Throughout the week there will be Clinics, Layout tours, Prototype tours, Contests, and Nonrail Attractions. There will be a banquet Saturday night, August 5th, at 6:00pm to end the event. The featured speaker will be Maynard Orme and the Master of Ceremony will be Shannon Pratt. This event is a National Model Railroad Association meeting by the Pacific Northwest Region and will be taking place at the Holiday Inn in Wilsonville, OR. Saturday, October 28th, 2006 – First Annual All Brass Model Train Show – The show will be located at Shilo Inn Airport Convention Center just East of I-205 on Airport Way The show hours will be from 10:00AM to 3:00PM. Vendors setup from 8:00AM to 10:00AM and close out from 3:00PM to 5:00PM. Soldering and Detailing Clinics will take place. Soldering for Beginners at 8:30AM, Mechanical Tooling at 9:15AM, and Detailing for Beginners from 2:00PM to 3:00PM. 8’ Vendor tables are available for $50.00. Consignment Tables are available for a 10% fee. There will be a test track for most scales. For Shilo Inn room reservations call 1-800-222-2244. Airport Shuttle is available. Don’t forget to ask for the Show Room rate and mention the Brass Show.
