Local Activities/Events
*TODAY* Thursday thru Sunday, June 22nd-June 25th, 2006 – Logging Modelers Convention – This event is taking place at the Best Western Park Place Inn & Suites in Chehalis, WA. Registration is at the Lewis Country Museum in Chehalis on Thursday from 9:00AM until 4:00PM. During these four days many clinics, contests, model railroad op sessions and many other things will be taking place. Registration is $50. If you want to ride the banquet train, that has limited seating and, is $42.95. For vendor table the cost is $15.00 for each table. The cost for the Camp 6 Museum in Tacoma is Donation only and the price to enter the Washington State Historical Museum is paid at the door. *TODAY* Saturday, June 24th, 2006 – Knights of Columbus Hall Swap Meet – This will take place at 2515 Burwell in Bremerton. It will be open from 10 AM until 4 PM. Bremerton Northern Model Railroad Club is sponsoring this event and they ask for a $2.00 donation for people twelve years old or older.
*TODAY* June 24th, 2006 – July 2nd, 2006 – Day Out with Thomas 2006 – This will take place in Hood River, OR at the Mt. Hood Railroad. A Thomas & Friends Information Station will be there as well. Saturday & Sunday, July 22nd-23rd, 2006 – Railroads in the Garden Summer Tour – Take a tour of several Garden Railroads in and around the Portland area in-between 10AM and 5PM. Start your tour at any layout and continue to travel to any other layout in any order of your choice. The tour book is your family’s admission to all of the local layouts. Wednesday thru Saturday, August 2nd-5th, 2006 – Willamette Valley Express – Registration begins at 8:00am on Wednesday, August 2nd. First event will be a meeting at the Alpenrose Dairy at 6:00pm on August 2nd. Throughout the week there will be Clinics, Layout tours, Prototype tours, Contests, and Non-rail Attractions. There will be a banquet Saturday night, August 5th, at 6:00pm to end the event. The featured speaker will be Maynard Orme and the Master of Ceremony will be Shannon Pratt. This event is a National Model Railroad Association meeting by the Pacific Northwest Region and will be taking place at the Holiday Inn in Wilsonville, OR. Saturday & Sunday, Sept 16th-17th, 2006 – Deschutes Steam Excursion – Sponsored by Northwest Rail Museum the SP #4449 is making a roundtrip from Portland to Bend, OR. This trip takes about 8 hours each way so be prepared to leave early in the morning. All the tickets include transportation, a continental breakfast and lunch, and shuttles to overnight accommodations in hotels at Bend. Saturday, October 28th, 2006 – First Annual All Brass Model Train Show – The show will be located at Shilo Inn Airport Convention Center just East of I-205 on Airport Way The show hours will be from 10:00AM to 3:00PM. Vendors setup from 8:00AM to 10:00AM and close out from 3:00PM to 5:00PM. Soldering and Detailing Clinics will take place. Soldering for Beginners at 8:30AM, Mechanical Tooling at 9:15AM, and Detailing for Beginners from 2:00PM to 3:00PM. 8’ Vendor tables are available for $50.00. Consignment Tables are available for a 10% fee. There will be a test track for most scales. For Shilo Inn room reservations call 1-800-222-2244. Airport Shuttle is available. Don’t forget to ask for the Show Room rate and mention the Brass Show.
