The Willamette
Model Railroad Club has openings for new members.
Our clubs goal is to enhance out members model railroading experience by
following plausible prototype operating practices on a layout featuring scenic
fidelity (i.e. no spaghetti-bowl track plan), all housed in a freshly remodeled
room.
We will soon be building an HO scale railroad to support prototypical operations. We have decided upon the plan for our new 1,800 sq. ft. railroad. The new layout will be state-of-the-art and takes full advantage of contemporary layout design and construction practices, such as DCC, wide aisles, effective lighting, continuous staging, and efficient yard trackage. In addition to providing formal operations with long point-to-point run (587 ft.), it also accommodates continuous running for informal operations. Planned operations include though freights, unit trains, way freights, local switchers, and several yard jobs.
As of October, 2008, we have completed all the excavation and concrete work. While we still have a bit of clean-up work remaining to prepare out freshly remodeled layout room, our attention is now shifting to layout construction. Were currently discussing benchwork construction and planning lighting installations.
Totally new club layouts dont happen very often. Heres your chance to get in on the ground floor of something special.
Come and visit us! Meetings are on Mondays and Thursdays at 7:30pm in the basement of the Clackamas Community Center. Business meetings are the first Thursday of the month. For more information, contact Rick Andrews at 503-642-3298 or DRDREWS1@verizon.net.
